Can all sensors be zigbee or things like that protocol

Zigbee, zigwave, bluetooth, wifi etc. some popular communication protocol are available. Many home security sensors are designed with these type especially zigbee type communication protocol. So, users just buy any one of zigbee sensor and use it with echo etc.
But all sensors can be zigbee type? No. zigbee communication distance is short, only indoor sensors can be this type.
The outdoor security sensor such as outdoor solar power break beam, detector still need specific alarm receiver. Because the wireless communication distance between outdoor area to indoor is 100-500 meters and even longer.
What is the best security solution to integrate outdoor and indoor security protection? Communication converter is the relay for both.
