According to the "Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings" and "Code for Fire Protection Design of High-Rise Civil Buildings", fire emergency lighting should be installed in the following parts of the building. The fire emergency lighting is divided into safety exit indicators and evacuation indicator lights:
Evacuation indicator lights
1. Enclosed staircase, smoke-proof staircase and its front room, fire elevator and its front room;
2. Power distribution room, fire control room, automatic generator room, fire water pump room, smoke and smoke exhaust machine room, battery room for fire fighting, telephone switch room, and other rooms that need to continue working in the event of a fire;
3. Audience halls and exhibition halls and business halls with a floor area of ​​more than 1500 square meters, studios with a construction area of ​​more than 200 square meters, and basements with dense populations and a construction area of ​​more than 300 square meters;
4. Evacuation walkways in public buildings and internal walkways over 20 meters in length;
5. The doorway of each floor of multi-storey and high-rise buildings leading to the stairwell and the front room of the fire elevator;
6. Large-area halls, venues and halls lead to evacuation passages and exits leading to the front hall, side halls and staircases.

Installation requirements for safety exit indicator lights and evacuation indicator lights:
1. In order to prevent the smoke generated in the event of a fire from affecting the vision, the installation height of the safety exit indicator should be 2-2.5 meters. The front picture of the safety exit indicator should be kept at a vertical angle to the safety evacuation channel as far as possible, and the bottom edge should be away from the ground. It should not be less than 2 meters; it is generally installed above the exit door frame, if the door frame is too high, it can be installed at the side entrance of the door frame;
2. The evacuation indicator lights of the evacuation walkway should be installed on the evacuation walkway and its corners on the wall, column or ground below the height of 1 meter from the ground; the distance between the evacuation indicator lights of the evacuation walkway should not be greater than 20 meters, The distance between the evacuation indicator lights of civil air defense projects should not be greater than 15 meters; when it is convenient for people to evacuate, the correct emergency escape exit can be found no matter where they are from.
3. The evacuation indicator lights and safety exit indicators should be installed firmly and reliably, and there should be no obvious looseness; the evacuation indicator lights and safety exit indicators are fire-fighting loads, and no leakage protection should be provided.

Installation method of safety exit indicator light and evacuation indicator light:
Places with larger spaces should be arranged at a certain distance and the distance between lights should not be greater than 20 meters, fixed on the pillars of the safety exit passage, or wall-mounted on the wall, or hung on the ceiling in various forms.
Note: In crowded public places such as station waiting halls, airport waiting halls, hospitals, shopping malls, etc., it is recommended to increase the density of lights appropriately; the evacuation indicator lights for safety exits should adopt emergency indicator lights with a width greater than 600 mm to facilitate sudden power outages. It can be more intuitive and quickly find the location of emergency lamps, and accurately guide personnel to evacuate safely; at the same time, it also improves some indicators of lighting in the place of use.
