Explosion proof gas detector troubleshooting

Unread post by vedard »

Explosion-proof gas detector is an important security equipment for monitoring poisonous and harmful gases. It works in bad environment for a long time, so it needs to be tested regularly to ensure that it can work normally.
The gas detector is mainly composed of a power component and a sensor component connected with the host.
Sensor components may not work properly due to the influence of large magnetic field interference or high humidity and dust.
The daily maintenance of explosion-proof gas detector should also be operated by professional maintenance personnel to prevent the damage of the detector caused by improper operation.

Re: Explosion proof gas detector calibration

Unread post by vedard »

Gas detector can detect the leakage of gas, through the sound, light and other alarm signals to remind people to take evacuation, forced exhaust, shut down equipment and other safety measures, is an indispensable instrument in industrial production and daily life.
But the gas detector is not always able to accurately measure the concentration of gas, just like our watch needs regular and standard time proofreading, gas detector also needs to be calibrated regularly to ensure the accuracy of detection, and the correction process is called "calibration".
Why calibration is needed?
The accuracy of combustible gas alarm is an important premise for detection and alarm, and its accuracy depends on the built-in combustible gas sensor, whether it is electrochemical sensor or catalytic combustion sensor, will be affected by some substances in the environment in the process of use, and gradually change or even poisoning failure, only after timely maintenance and correction, The accuracy of the results detected by the instrument can be guaranteed.
In practical use, many factors will affect the accurate value of the alarm, regular calibration is to reduce the error of the detection results to a minimum, the highest accuracy.
Under what situations the gas detector should be calibrated?
1. Oxygen concentration is too high or too low
The concentration of combustible gas may be lower than the actual concentration when it is detected in the atmosphere with insufficient oxygen. On the other hand, in the environment with too much oxygen, the detected concentration may be higher than the actual concentration.
In this case, it is necessary to calibrate the detector to achieve the purpose of accurate measurement.
2. Re-calibration of combustible gas detector
When the gas concentration is too high, the combustible gas detector shows "overrange", it needs to be re-calibrated. For example, in the process of using combustible gas detector, the measuring range of the instrument is 0-100%LEL, and the actual concentration is higher than 100%, it will cause the phenomenon of overmeasuring range, at this time, it is necessary to re-calibrate the gas detector.
Water vapor or other known impurities from silicone compounds may affect the normal operation of the combustible gas detector, causing it to read lower than the actual gas concentration. If the instrument has been used in a vapour environment with silicone compounds, re-calibrate the instrument before next use to ensure accurate measurements.
