Fire Alarm System modules

Unread post by vedard »

Fire Alarm System modules are used to monitor or control the fire fighting device. There are input module, output module, input and output module, isolation module, relay module, switching module, multi-line control module, etc.
1. Input module is used to receive signal input, and the input equipment is regarded as part of fire alarm system. Some manufacturers call it relay module. According to the different input modules of input signal, they can be divided into switching input and analog input. Switch input is to receive a passive contact signal, which is input into the system. The general input module can be used to receive the alarm and feedback signals of water flow indicator, pressure switch, signal valve and other equipment. Because the communication protocols of various manufacturers in the fire system are different, the equipment of different manufacturers can be simply networked through this way. At present, there are some input modules in the market that can only receive the normally open signal input, and the parameters can be set to receive the normally open or closed signal input, as well as the dual-input module, multi-input module and so on. Analog input module is generally used to receive current or voltage signals. When the non-coding detector of a general manufacturer gives an alarm, the output of the current signal is used to connect the addressing interface module of the manufacturer and input it into the system.
2. Output module is used to control the start-stop or switching of some devices. No signal input is usually used to control the devices without signal feedback, such as broadcasting , sound-light alarm, alarm bell and so on.
3. Input and output modules are also called control modules in some occasions. They can output signals or provide a switching signal to make the controlled equipment move. At the same time, they can receive feedback signals from the equipment to report to the host computer. They are an important part of the fire alarm linkage system. Input and output modules can provide a pair of passive open/close contacts. Points, used to control controlled equipment, some manufacturers'modules can be set to active output through parameter setting, corresponding to the dual input and output module, multi-input and output module and so on.
4. Isolation module (also known as bus isolator) is connected to the front-end protection circuit of the system bus in the event of short-circuit fault, isolating the back-end connecting part from the system, so that the whole system can not work normally, and the isolator can resume its work after repairing the faulty part of the line.
5. The relay module is generally used to extend the communication distance of the bus when the communication distance of the system is too far. At the same time, it can enhance the anti-interference ability of the system.
6. Switching module is used to connect input and output module and large current controlled equipment, which plays a protective role, and its function is equivalent to relay.
7. Multi-line module is also called switching module in some cases, which is used to connect multi-line direct control points and controlled equipment.
Fire Alarm System modules are the bridges of fire alarm and fire fighting system.

1. Signal line 2 - buses wire Z1 and Z2 should use flame-retardant RVS twisted pair with cross-sectional area greater than 1.0 mm.
2. The power supply lines D1 and D2 should use fire-resistant BV lines with cross-sectional area (> 1.5mm).
3. G, NG, V+, NO, COM, S-, I should use flame-retardant RV lines with cross-sectional area (> 1.0 mm).

4.7K EOL resistor should be wired to the circuit. Use handheld programmer to set the control module as Dry contact output and self-response according to code on the fire alarm system manual.

Connect fire alarm device to fire module.
The Alarm bell and sound-light warning devices will be triggered by control panel and no feedback signal is required. So, terminal 1 and G is connected with EOL resistor. Use the handheld programmer to set the module as self response code according to the fire manual.

Smoke Ejector connection to fire module

1. Both the power and signal of the module are non-polar. The smoke exhaust port is dry contact N/O connected with alarm panel for feedback signal sending.
2. EOL resistor should be wired at end of line on side of feedback, not near I, G terminal.
3. Smoke exhaust nozzle is usually closed. When fire occurs, smoke and temperature sensors send fire alarm signals to the control center, the control center sends DC24V power supply to the smoke outlet actuator to make the smoke outlet open quickly or manually open the smoke outlet.
4. There is a special case of tuyere control, that is, the control terminal also needs to check the line. Some tuyere will automatically disconnect the control loop after the tuyere tripping action. If the module can not detect the coil resistance, it will report the fault. So this kind of actuator needs to connect 4.7K resistor in parallel at the control end.

The control panel can be automatically linked, so in most cases, the equipment which needs direct manual control, such as smoke exhaust fan, air supply fan, fire pump, spray pump, rain solenoid valve, water curtain solenoid valve and pre-acting solenoid valve, only need to connect the direct control circuit.
